As one of the most common bases, the E27 is found in many homes and offices alike. It has a so-called screw thread, which is also called an Edison thread as a tribute to the inventor of the industrially manufactured light bulb, Thomas Edison. This is where the "E" in the name comes from. The following number, in this case 27, stands for the thread diameter in millimetres. Lamps with this thread are enormously versatile. In addition to the classic bulb shape, you can also get them in spotlight or candle shapes. Pick your favourite shape!
